Enjoy the southwest and west of Ireland at an unhurried pace on this 9 day itinerary. Your tour starts at Shannon when you meet your experienced driver-guide. This itinerary is designed to allow you to explore Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal. Youšll enjoy the tranquility and scenic splendour of this area.
Day 1 - DEPART FOR IRELAND
Depart for Ireland by the most convenient air routing. Overnight flight to Ireland.
Day 2 - KILLARNEY
Your experienced driver-guide and luxury motorcoach will greet you at Shannon. Visit Bunratty Folk Park, a recreated 19th century village. Continue through Limerick City, viewing King John's Castle as you cross the Shannon River. On to the picturesque village of Adare with its thatched cottages. Continue to Killarney Town which is set beside the Lakes of Killarney at the foot of the mountains.
Day 3 - DINGLE PENINSULA
Tour the spectacular Dingle Peninsula. Visit Blasket Island Center, Gallorus Oratory, Dingle Town and return via Tralee, and hear the sad romantic story of the Rose of Tralee.
Day 4 - CLARE COAST
Cross the Shannon from County Kerry to County Clare. Continue along the Clare Coast to visit the Cliffs of Moher which rise 700 feet above the sea and extend five miles along the coast. Drive on through the Burren country - an area of limestone hills which supports a wide range of flora - and it's off to Galway. You'll be free to explore Galway City and visit some of her traditional pubs before you continue to Moycullen to visit the Connemara Celtic Crystal Factory, where you will see the cutting of fine crystal by craftsman. Overnight in Galway City.
Day 5 - ARAN ISLANDS
You travel through the Connemara region which is known for its mountains, the Twelve Bens and the beauty of the landscape with its changing colors. Air excursion to the Aran island - Inishmor - and visit the ancient fort - Dun Angeus.
Day 6 - FAMINE MUSEUM & SLIGO
Tour from Galway to County Roscommon. Visit the Famine Museum at Stroketown. Continue north for a visit to 12th century Boyle Abbey. Visit Carrowmore Megalithic cemetery On to Sligo, a county of gentle mountains, lakes and coastline. This area is associated with the great writer: W. B. Yeats. Overnight in Sligo Town.
Day 7 - DONEGAL EXCURSION
Visit W.B. Yeats Grave at Drumcliffe. Stop at Ballyshannon to visit Donegal Parian China. Visit Donegal Town and the 15th century Donegal Castle. Shop for tweeds at Magees of Donegal. Overnight in Sligo Town.
Day 8 - KNOCK & COOLE
Tour south to Knock, where Our Lady appeared in 1879. On to Gort, where you visit Thoor Ballylee, the summer home of W. B. Yeats. Visit Coole, the former estate of Lady Augusta Gregory. Continue to Ennis or Bunratty. Enjoy a medieval banquet at a 15th century castle.
Day 9 - DEPART FOR HOME
Transfer to Shannon Airport and check in for flight home.
